AMANAR Surf Retreat is a 24-resident house in Tamraght, twelve kilometres north of Agadir and ten minutes' walk from the water, between Taghazout and Agadir. Coached sessions, every one of them filmed, on the beach break that suits the day's conditions rather than the one on a timetable.

Video analysis — the part that actually changes your surfing
Every session is filmed from the beach. In the afternoon you watch yourself: where your weight sits on the take-off, whether your back foot lands where you think it lands, how late you are on the pop-up. Almost nobody surfs the way they believe they do, and twenty minutes of footage settles the argument faster than a week of being told.
This is the reason people progress here in a week rather than a season. It is included in every surf stay — not an upsell, not a premium tier.
The spots, and which one you get
Instructors check the swell, the tide and the wind before breakfast and pick the spot from that. Beginners surf the sand-bottomed beach breaks at Crocodiles and Devil's Rock. Intermediates move to Banana Point, where the right is long enough to link several manoeuvres on one wave. Confident surfers get Anchor Point and Killers when the swell is big enough — and only after the instructors have watched them surf for several days. That is a safety rule, not gatekeeping.
A typical day
Early session while the wind is still offshore, breakfast after. The middle of the day is free — surfskate, the rooftop, a walk to the village, or nothing at all. Video review in the afternoon, then a second session or a rest. Dinner at Ziri Table is long and everyone is at it.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to have surfed before?
No. Most residents arrive as beginners. The first session opens with twenty minutes in the whitewater while the instructor watches you paddle — that is what decides your spot for the week, not the level you ticked on the booking form. Wetsuit and softboard are included.
How many surf lessons are included?
Three coached sessions on a 7-day stay, five on 14 days, alongside free surf between 9am and 4pm. The exact list for each duration is on this page under What's included, and it matches the booking engine.
Is the airport transfer included?
Yes, both ways, from 7 days — on every package. Your driver is at Agadir Al Massira with your name on arrival and we track your flight, so a delay is our problem rather than yours. On a 3-day stay the transfer is a €30 add-on.
What is the best time of year to surf in Tamraght?
September to April is the main season: Atlantic swells arrive, the points switch on, and the water sits around 18–20°C. October and November are the sweet spot. July and August stay small, which suits absolute beginners.
What if the conditions are bad?
Some days the wind is onshore and the waves are shapeless. Nobody is sent out to tick a box. Those days go to surfskate, the coastal hike, the rooftop or the village — and the instructors will tell you plainly that it is a bad day rather than sell you a session.
